Buena Onda Collective
Territorial Hissings AR and Sonic Workshop
Part of the exhibition S.T.E.P Saunter Trek Escort Parade curated by Christina Freeman, Emireth Herrera and moira williams.

2nd floor theater, Queens Museum

An Augmented Reality sound workshop inviting LGBTQI, non-binary and female identified people, to a safe creative space to unravel experiences of verbal and physical harassment that have occurred in public. Together we will create a geo-gendered narrative, recording and mixing reenacted dialogues, the cityscape and foley. This work aims to provide an empathetic experience for listeners and a space of support and catharsis for participants.

During the workshop, participants will learn how to use audio recording tools such as recorders, microphones, and binaural recording techniques. A mix of the collaborative audio work will be online as an MP3 download along with a map that guides the psycho-sonicscape.

No technical skills necessary just openness, a kind heart and space for compassionate listening.Vegan lunch included.

Support for Saunter Trek Escort Parade… (S.T.E.P….) is provided by Friends of Flux, Queens Museum, the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, The National Endowment for the Arts, in-kind support from Materials for the Arts, ART WORKS arts.gov, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the New York State Legislature.
